Many thanks. Lehman of course has managed offerings for SFAM....
they may feel they have some explaining to do :-). Important part
was that the revenue drops are pushouts by a large customer who
"reportedly has worked with Speedfam on copper CMP".
Let's hope those reports are right. Let's also hope they
aren't buying from another source to do Cu after concluding SFAM
won't be able to ship enough machines fast enough, soon enough.
For our sake, I hope the statement that "customer committment to
and interest in Speedfam's CMP technology remains high."
Others' conversations with IR reported on this thread would seem
to confirm this. But IR is hardly going to admit to being in
deep doo-doo, are they?

Novellus, in its Damascus announcement, noted that the CMP systems
involved (IPEC) were *qualified* for Damascus, but would continue
to be marketed and sold separately from NVLS's packages, and I
believe the initial release about the joint work with IPEC on
copper allowed for the possibility of other companies' coming on
board later as well. Cu is a stated priority in SFAM research;
I think it likely they qualify their tools for
Damascus sometime in the next year, and the stock will like that.

Cheers,

HB
