Over the past six months, I have tried to gather information
from various public sources about Intel's future product
introductions and some of the technology that will be involved.
Here's what I've gathered and surmised:

Intro date Processor Technology Optimum MSFT OS
Fall 95 Pentium Pro "P6" 32 bit/tick NT V.4 (1996)
1Q 97 PPro upgrade .35 micron
(Klamath)
3Q 97 2nd PPro upgrade .25 micron NT V.5 (4Q96-1Q97)
(Dechutes) (Cairo)
1-2Q 98 Merced "P7" 64 bit
(HP collaboration)
2000-01? Tillamook "P8" 128 bit?? ??

What are your thoughts? How accurate might this timetable be?
Can you fill in the blanks on these upcoming products?

Also, I'd love to initiate a discussion of what the capabilities
of these chips will mean.

What kinds of products will be enabled with these advances?
We're only going out 4-5 years here.

Barry
