Where is Jimmy Rogers when you need him. He can tell us the sky is falling. I think he can tell us the exact amount of "Treasury" debt the Japanese hold. I doubt anyone can tell us what private corporate debt the Japanese hold, or what amount of equities they hold.

Now if memory serves me correct, the amount of treasury debt the Japanese hold is about 1/5 of our national debt. So that means it's about $1 trillion. It's strictly from memory. I'm sure one of us will run across some figures so we can verify this.

I could be wrong about this, but I thought the Japanese were the biggest contributors to the IMF? If not, I believe the US and Japan are very close.

Funny you mention "brain power" drain. I sacrificed a lot of my brainpower to tech stocks too. A lot of my brainpower went to the "bandwidth" plays, no less. Finally it may pay off. Now I'm trying to pull my head out of the sand and figure out the bigger driving forces behind the markets, while attempting to keep my head into the tech stocks.
