First to market is not especially relevant in drugs... In drugs, first-to-market is no insurmountable barrier (like it can be in medical devices). There is little training involved in drugs, and the cost of switching between two drugs is minor (as opposed to switching between defibrillators...). So, don't worry about CNTO's drug. Also, Isis may be able to compete on the basis of side-effects. Not enough is known about 2302 yet for me to say with any comfort that they have fewer (or more) side-effects. As far as other results... supposedly the enrollment for UC is very slow (patients prefer surgery). RA is going slow. Kidney transplant is very slow (due in large part to very strict guidelines from the FDA). Psoriasis actually seems to be going OK now. Marc, I agree with you about Isis's prospects. It does look as though this company no longer has any blockbuster opportunities. I am going to be paying VERY close attention to the next clinical results. This company, in my opinion, has been less than forthcoming about their clinical progress, so I see little reason to keep this in the portfolio if they can't deliver the results. Blockbusters are really key to biotech success. Considering that these companies are basically cash vaccuums, they need immediate success. We will see. I'm basically sitting at my desk with my finger over the button in regards to Isis. Sds
