Sprint announced late yesterday that it is developing a high speed network for data and voice communication to be operational by the end of 1999. It wasn't clear to me how much Sprint is planning to use existing equipment and technology vs. how much new installation it expects to do. The original article in either the L A Times or the N Y Times mentioned that this would put Sprint in competition with other companies like Level 3 and Qwest. KEL
