Barbara, you and Joe are talking 2 different languages. When he says buy and hold he means you take a basic position and keep that overall position intact. For example let's say he buys 80K shares at an average price of .30. Then when the stock stalls and he sees prfit taking coming, he sells 30K at .50. Then he buys back 40K at .40 for a total of 90K. He has actually increased his support of the stock. To Joe who is a trader by nature, this is buying and holding.

To most people buying and holding means you just don't trade.

There are 2 different understandings and that should be made clear.
