The "Pons act" is were the French Gov. subsidizes companies 30% of their cost outlay to service Tahiti. Its like a 30% rebate every time you do business there.

Here is the legal definition of it.

The Pons Act, as it is commonly known, is intended to help with funding of investments in the Overseas French Territories for the purpose of promoting local economic growth for a future less reliant on France's generous subsidies.
This assistance is indirectly funded by the French Government who allows tax-payers in France to invest the taxes they owe into eligible Overseas Territory projects. The areas of eligibility are very much the same as the ones listed for the Investment Code above.
Without going into detailed explanations on the mechanics of the Pons Act, one can state that, from the investor's point of view, the financial benefits are direct and very close to being a giveaway.
If you present a well thought-out and detailed business plan for an investment that makes sense, you may receive up to 35% of the proposed total investment and never have to repay it. That's right, this is not a typo...
The procedure for applying for the Pons Act benefits is well understood, and there are many qualified CPA's in Papeete who can make the process relatively painless.
