and Temporarily Waives $95 PSIWeb eCommerce Fee
HERNDON, Va., Nov. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- PSINet Inc. , the first commercial Internet service provider, today announced a simplified pricing structure for its PSIWeb international web hosting service and a year-end promotion for its new PSIWeb eCommerce service. Since it introduced PSIWeb in May 1995, PSINet Publishing Corporation has become one of the industry's leading providers of corporate web hosting and electronic commerce solutions.
The new pricing plan, $10 per megabyte with a minimum monthly charge of $99, includes: easy one-button-publish web site maintenance; custom CGI scripting ability; detailed user profile reports; Microsoft FrontPage, VRML, Java and Shockwave support; and 24x7 web server and network monitoring. For customers with any other PSINet dedicated or LAN-on-Demand connection, PSINet will temporarily waive the minimum monthly PSIWeb service fee of $99 for three months of a 12-month contract.
"PSIWeb, already a pioneer in charging only for disk space used, now provides businesses of all sizes and types with an Internet-optimized web hosting service that includes unlimited data transfer for as little as $99 per month," said Ed Frankenberg, PSIWeb product manager. "This new pricing structure allows every PSIWeb customer to better predict and control all hosting expenses."
PSIWeb provides businesses with one of the industry's most advanced and versatile web hosting environments available. PSIWeb provides every customer with at least two geographically-dispersed web servers that are connected directly to PSINet's international network. This architecture caters particularly to businesses or multinational corporations most concerned with web site performance and reliability. Like PSINet's InterFrame, PSI IntraNet and other dedicated corporate connection services, PSIWeb is engineered for high-speed, robust performance under heavy traffic loads.
PSINet also announced that it will waive $95 of the monthly fee for either PSIWeb eCommerce service option for new customers signing up by December 31, 1996. The PSIWeb eCommerce Complete electronic commerce solution service, which is available as an option to the PSIWeb hosting service, and includes Mercantec's SoftCart and CyberCash, is priced at $195 per month, plus a one percent transaction fee. The PSIWeb eCommerce payment-only service with CyberCash is priced at $95 per month, plus a one percent transaction fee.
PSIWeb eCommerce, introduced in October 1996, provides the building blocks to develop, integrate and manage high-performance "Virtual Storefronts" on PSIWeb. PSIWeb eCommerce Complete integrates CyberCash's secure payment system to process transactions electronically with SoftCart virtual store technology from Mercantec to facilitate a seamless shopping experience.
