Cash, there's another way to connect to a different server, if the system is still the same as when I subscribed to pcq.....If I remember right, there's a file named "tal.ini" and if you open it with a text editor, you'll see seqentially numbered urls..

The tal software connects with the first one listed, then the second, and so on, each time you sign off.

If enough people are assigned the default first one, it has to slow, and in my experience, it was VERY slow, particularly at the worst possible moments (fast market times)

Well, if you change the ORDER of the listings, an improvement is usually apparent, but it's important to try a tracert to the url 1st, before just randomly changing. The tracert gives you the millisecond times in and out of each "hop", and the lower the better.

One other thing....pcq doesn't TELL you that there's secret(?) other servers. I found them by simply trying the numbers *between* the numbers in the Tal.ini default file, and whad'ya know ?...There was extra servers available that no one at tech support would tell me about.

Below are the notes to myself that I copied down from my fiasco-prone days with pcq, and I hope they're of some assistance.

P.S. Please don't try the above if you don't know what I'm talking about....I don't want to be responsible for telling you something that makes your setup inoperative just before trading hours. Please call their tech support and ask them to walk you through the procedure if you have any doubts. (Always make back up files of .ini files before editing)

Hope this helps.

Dick

Here's the other "secret" url's.....I don't know if they still work, but even if they don't, they probably have NEW ones by now, and you can try the numbers between those.

1=reg1.pcqt.com,*,10 13hops no alter.net
207.240.159.90
2=pcw04.pcquote.com,*,10 15hops ans/altr
206.64.123.53
3=pcw01.pcquote.com,*,10 14hops ans/altr
206.64.123.51
found these addresses:
206.64.123.52 pcw02.pcquote.com 14hops
but has alter.net hops
206.64.123.53 pcw03.pcquote.com 15hops
ans.net hops....

and so on......
