Digital Living Room Conference Explores How Kids Will Fare in the Digital Future
SAN MATEO, Calif., June 4 /PRNewswire/ -- What happens to kids when every home becomes part of an all-digital entertainment, information and marketing network that changes the way families interact with the world around them? How do we balance instant access to information and greater exposure to advertising with the need to keep kids safe online? What happens to privacy of children in an interconnected, all-digital world? Will they be at a greater risk of exploitation?
Those are among the questions to be debated and discussed in a special segment of the first Digital Living Room Conference, says executive producer David Coursey. Created by Upside magazine and David Coursey, DLR will take place June 21-24 at the Ritz Carlton Laguna Niguel in Dana Point, CA.
Larry Magid, a syndicated columnist for the Los Angeles Times, host of SafeKids.Com and passionate crusader for children and teens, will host and moderate the discussion. Magid, an author and frequent guest on radio and TV talk shows, received the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children's ''Ten Year Anniversary Award'' for developing a system for finding missing children online. He also serves on the board of directors of Telis, a non-profit educational foundation dedicated to improving network access for low-income and disadvantaged families. Magid's columns are available online at larrysworld.com, safekids.com and safeteens.com.
Panel participants and speakers in this special session include: Idit Harel, CEO and Founder of MaMaMedia, Inc; Andrew Neff, VP Marketing & Business Development, MediaLive; Laurence Roth, Executive Director, Community Programming and Policy, AOL; and Linda Dalton, Director, Lego Mindstorms.
During the three-day event, more than 40 additional speakers will present their vision of the all-digital home. A complete program, including a list of the 30 exciting products and technologies selected for the ''hands-on'' demonstration area of the conference, is online at: digitallivingroom.com.
