INFOMAN AND GULL, congratulations for reaching a new low in human behaviour!

(MIS)INFOMAN, your comments speak clearly about your integrity, or the lack of same. The tragic event was first mentioned by you on this thread. I replied to you privately (see my post) to keep the matter off line because I felt sympathy for the man's family. Obviously, you didn't have any feelings for them, so you wanted to generate some disgusting and repugnant conversation about it.

For your information, his death had been known by many, outside of SUF, for at least a week. And if you know the facts, it was a botched ambush by former rebels, simply to get food from the supply truck. Tell me honestly when did you find out and who told you about it? I bet it was one of your DB handlers who whispered in your ear to start something seemy like your revelation and coy question!

In any case, Frank Grobler's 2IC moved into his job immediately and seamlessly, without causing any operational problems, under the aegis of V-P Lee Barker, the man in charge of the Angolan operations. SUF felt that it had no material effect on the company's operations and the decision was made not to issue a public statement. A formal tribute, which was decided upon way before your questioning entered the scene, will be held in his memory at the annual meeting. You're welcome to attend! BTW several senior executives attended the funeral... anybody from DB there? Any sympathy cards sent by DB to the family?

As for the political instability in Angola you keep warning us about, I find it curious that you show such caring, anxiety and worry about the safety of SUF staff, but not once mentioned the fact that De Beers is also operating in Angola. I presume the same danger exists for them, too. Unless they paid off the bandits are on the payroll! In fact DB is planning to build a huge processing plant in Angola, now that they have been allowed back in. And, furthermore, if the country presents such a dangerous atmosphere for diamond miners, why is DB so interested in trying to reclaim Camafuca? I can hear the drool drop to the floor whenever DB dreams of Camafuca... Keep on dreaming!

As for the tragic event, it can also happen to you or anyone else. S.A. recorded 24,588 murders in 1997 (56.9 for each 100,000 population), and, a staggering 69,693 cases of robbery with aggravating circumstances (161.3 per 100,000 pop). (You can check these facts with the SA police service.) It can happen to anyone in Angola, where several companies are mining. But to bring the incident to this thread, as you and your pal did, was disgusting, immoral and without scruples. Others on line , obviously, feel the same way -- except you and your pal -- you two have reached the lowest of the low...
