I am examining IREC right now myself - I like the technology and have actually heard of it before - very promising if they can ever get off the ground. Read the release closely - this is a demonstration site not a contract (IMOO) - not to diminish the positives of such a demonstration. Sludges are a emulsion of oil, water and sediments usually found in the bottom to mid-level of separators (from storm water collection systems) and bulk storage tanks (refineries, oil production facilities, bulk terminals, etc). Refinery bottoms (as I understand) are the heavy oils/tars generated through the refinery process after all the lights (i.e., butanes, benzenes, etc) have been "distilled" off. I realize this is a very mundane / layman version and am begging for some assistance here from others on the thread. If I am wrong on bottoms (I don't believe so) then I am in total misunderstanding of RNTK's process.
