>>Heck, why do I have to do all this figgerin for you ? I mean what with you wanting to deport my buddy Tom and all<<
Hey, Nemer--when push comes to shove she'd never want to deport me--else, to paraphrase a former president, she'd "not have Tom Trader to kick around any more":)
I know that we both are probably at opposite ends of the political spectrum -- but on the other hand as I watched commentary about Goldwater over the past few days, I could not help feeling that he was a man of substance and convviction. Now you should know that when he was running in '64, I was cutting my teeth in the political process and I was horrified at the thought of him ever becoming president. But when I compare him to contemporary leaders, he is head and shoulders above them. At least one knew where he stood--even if one disagreed with him. The strange thing is that three Western leaders who I admire for the strength and consistency of their convictions although, I disagreed with their views are way right of center--Goldwater, Thatcher and Reagan.
There was a guy on TV who said of Goldwater that his 64 campaign though unsuccessful, inspired a lot of young conservatives to get into politics--now a generation from now, can you imagine how many people will say that it was Bush or Clinton who inspired them to get into politics???!!!
Where is lisa today--I may have to start an argument with her to draw her out of her shell:) |
