I have been so confounded by the irrationality of the oil-producing countries both in and out of OPEC that I don't have any idea at all of when, why, and how much oil prices might rise. The world seems determined to find and burn up all the available oil, but until it runs out all the producers seem anxious to pump and sell cheaply.

Oil price run-ups are very hard to predict, since they depend as much on politics as economics.

I am holding oil royalty trust stocks and drilling stocks as a hedge against one of these unexpected events.

Meantime, new oil continues to be discovred and pumped--much more than I ever imagined possible.
