ken--
no trades? that means the company will open at 5 tomorrow. we are all dead.
yeah, right. we simply do not know enough about the situation right now, and i assume people are nervous. our biggest competitor just bought on of our partners. to the morons on the street, that looks bad for us. what they dont understand is that telecom is a consumer driven industry. in other words, ALA doesnt decide what the RBOCs want, the RBOCs tell ALA what they want or they go to LU. BEL says it wants WSTL, it is going to get WSTL.
another point is the potential for ALA to drop most of its DSL stuff, and use a partnership with WSTL. this is basically what LU is doing.
as for LU buyout, its about getting into a new market. yes, LU has the g.lite chips, but i havent really seen anything out of them about full rate chips. buying WSTL would: a) give them a big part of the BEL deployment b) give them a captive market for their DSPs c) cut the threat from ALA. d) give them access to good products, already in deployment.
ala is trying to grow into a market that LU is in, and they should be a little worried. the easiest answer is that LU or someone else may buy WSTL just to keep it out of the hands of a competitor.
good luck to all, trey |
