There is nothing wrong with the power that SEC has if they apply it appropriately. It they apply this power for special interest groups and personal gain in the guise of protecting the investor (which seems to be their modus operanda today) then common investors and small companies are injured and their mission statement is meaningless. I have never seen the SEC question outright lies by the Fortune 500 companies that have been substantiated and verified not simply forwarded to them via anonymous email hearsay.
