Steve: in your post, Harlan is either ignorant of embedded chip structures, or he is smugly over confident that he "knows" what's going on. A year or two ago (1996-7), I was pondering a design using Dallas Semiconductor's real time clock chips. No software involved. These chips are non-y2k compliant since they only had two digits for the year. Hence I did not consider them for my design. Harlan's lengthy verbage is worth the paper you print it on, but not much more. No time for further discussion now. - Jim
