DOCS is currently running their "Summer" promo. This is virtually
a tradition. They realize that Firms (Mine always does) hire
summer help, who inevitably use DOCSF. You buy 5 licences and
get the 6'th for free (Of course you have to pony up another
$65 for SSS for all 6). I'm up to renew my SSS so I called my
Rep to ask if DOCS was going to go the SoftSolutions route.
Basically to ask if I'd be paying for non-existant software
upgrades.Bottom line,is that they are going to continue the
legal "Bread & Butter" line while they figure out exactly what to do with Fulcrum. One of Boston's largest firms is now in the process of switching to DOCSF. I know all the major players in IT there
and feel confident that they would not buy several hundred
licences if they felt they could do better elsewhere. I do
"semi-believe" they will continue with the Vertical they have
in legal but only until they feel confident to move into the
Enterprise. I like what I heard and feel that at this level we
have a winner. (I just wish they had spent more time on the
logical database design before they went physical with
it. It's a bitch to optimize no matter how much tweaking and
hardware you throw at it)
