*AV*--You are making a great deal of sense. I have been vocal about the growth I expect to see in the Telecom area but have admitted this sector is not really a core competence of mine. For now, and probably for the months to come, I will be an avid listener and student. I will be more than happy to aid in some due diligence research on companies we discuss here and I would not mind helping to enlighten the rest of the community about companies presented to us by members of this thread. If my technical/engineering bsckground could be of use, I will gladly lend it to the effort.

Just to comment on your list, I wonder if we should be looking for speech recognition chip and hardware companies and possibly wireless communications companies. For instance, on your chip list, I would definitely add QCOM and a few others. I would also think that MOT and Nokia might be of interest relative to equipment.

On general terms (and forgive me for this Judy), the recent CIEN/Tellabs announcement has brought the pundits out of the woodwork suggesting that other type mergers could occur. Beleive it or not, PAIR was mentioned as a target.

Do we stretch our imagination to include DVD or MPEG type chips as part of this new universe since high speed transmission, video-teleconferencing, internet telephony, etal. might come into play here.

I think you are on track but I also believe the combined community could come up with an expanded list that we can discuss freely and determine a select group of stocks to concentrate on. I will copy the stocks you mentioned here and would appreciate all inputs to add to this list.

I am sure Judy would mention TBR and I know I would like to add ICGX to the list. If there is any interest in discussing this openly on the thread, great. IF the interest is not there you might consider starting a new Telecom thread or move the discussions over to an existing Telecom thread for broader participation. Otherwise we could do it through provate email as not to clutter up this thread.

I may not have said it as pointedly as this but I believe the semiconductor sector will be stale for the rest of the year and it is imperative that we look at another high tech sector to make up the slack. I hope we can do this in the Telecom sector.

Andrew
