David,

Thanks very much for posting this testimony.I suppose I'm biased but to my ears what Q had to say was straforward and succinct, content full. Ericy in contrast said very little, and what they did say was uncharacteristically not in the least bit confrontational. For Tero's benefit they let slip that CDMA is growing faster than GSM, in fact close to 2x as fast, albeit from a much smaller base. They seem to be going along in principle with the family of systems concept.Looks like they know how to behave before Congress.

I know I'm pretty slow, maybe not as slow as some of you guys, certainly slower than a lot of you, however I think I'm finally beginning to understand what's going on here.CDMA's success in US, the advancement in microcircuitry, QC's GSM overlay have all made it pretty clear to the important players that CDMA is the air interface of the future.CDMAone is going to offer the cheapest migration path to that future which is why it was chosen by Air Touch,Bell Atl, Sprint, etc.Once Ericy realized the mistake they had made they chose to obfuscate, to buy themselves as much time as possible in order to continue selling GSM while they figure out what to do next. They need to keep this game going on as long as they can. They've already admitted that they're 3-5 yrs away from being ready. If it looks like it's going to cost more to upgrade from GSM they're in trouble. I suppose that's what this chip rate is about, just stick it to the other guys instead, if you can get away with it.If Q refuses to f.. themselves in the ass then claim that you yourselves are the ones who are bending over backwards. Their allies are those who are either GSM invested, or in the case of NTT DoComo, those looking for some future competitive advantage. I've been trying for days to figure out their endgame. Maybe they have no real endgame, only a middle game... drag it out as long as possible and then compromise, unless they can do it without Q IPR.If they're 3-5 yrs away with Q IPR I wonder how far away they are without it..Gregg, as usual, is right. QC is doing the right thing. The only thing they have to lose is royalties, which is all our Tero seems to think they have. I guess Drs Jacobs and Viterbi think otherwise. The sad part is that the Ericy strategy has actually been working very well.I'm a little surprised at the silence of others ie Mot,Lu, Nokia, but I guess they'll benefit no matter what happens. Why make enemiesfor nothing?

My apologies for thinking "out loud".I believe many of you have already understood all this for a while.Perhaps MOT warning
will provide us with another buy opp.
