FT,

I have said before that I am not well read. I have not truly read a book in 15+ years. I know that this sounds like I'm a very uninformed and uneducated. I shared that with a passenger on a flight back from Mexico about a year ago. A college professor, he replied that this statement was "an endightment of my intellectual capital" or something to that effect. I should admit that I went to a very "acedemic" secondary school, one that I found more challenging than college.

This does not mean that I am not a reader. I read magazines (computer trades), newspapers(several), and for the last 3 years I am an avid surfer. Recently I found this web site

hellasweb.com

I really enjoyed reading this, and have some questions for you.( You don't have to read the whole post to answer these questions).

1-10 ( 1 bad 10 excellent)

1) How would you rank this site for historical fact? (1-10)
2) How would you rank this site for scientific fact? (1-10)
3) How would you rank this site for accuracy of the political and social factors provided as reasons for the changes that occurred within the civilization? (1-10)
4) How would you rank this site overall? (1-10)

5) How would you explain the differences between Japan and Crete from the standpoint of cultural/global success considering equivalent land mass and "island" isolation?

6) If one reads only periodicals and has a perceptive mind, can knowledge and intellect accumulate without prejudice?

7) What advantages do thick books have over "thin" web-pages?

8) What advantages do universities have over self-study, other than social interaction of young people?

9) At what point in time, if ever, will we start to see major effects or paradigm shifts on our societies and cultures, because of free-flow, unlimited, information exchange?

10) What would your top 10 list of books be if you were required to submit a list to the Public school system for "required" reading? (Assume no moron common denominator factor needed)

Thanks in advance,

Tom
