Cappy has pretty much summed it up properly on yahoo.
I would like to answer someone's else statement to me.
"BUT JOE if you are long (? in my mind) why in tarnation would you be on this board this morning, when we finally get a news release with a little bit of meat, continuing to bad mouth the significance of it."
This last news release (for now) does not deserve the attention that it is getting. There is no meat on the bones. For the short term, it is not significant. Perhaps not for the long term too. But that is another story. I have been waiting for news releases that are more than chicken bones. What I do not like about Custer's releases is the fact that they do not give a true reflection of how important it really is. With their Inferno program, any company that wants to sign up and pay a fee can join too. The Web phone is available for all to use. It is Lucent's product. This latest news release makes it appear that LU and UVEW came together and developed the Web phone together. This is not the case at all. The listing of features in the press release is taken directly from the product information sheet from Lucent that has been available for many months now. On a scale of 1-10, this news release only comes in as a 2.....not the 9-10 that people are giving it. (Best thing since the apple pie.) With Custer, you MUST read between the lines at all times. The yahoo board is now overrun with hype. I can not blame them......it is the company that starts these things with there type of news releases.
One day the company will come out with something of importance (9-10 level. So far, nothing yet has approached it. You might ask, what do I consider 9-10 level. Well, several things must be in the release. It must have substantial "show me the money" truth. It must not be false or embellished hype, (which is almost always the case). It must be totally a true reflection of what the news is REALLY about. If this happens, it would become a 9-10 release. These 2-3 level releases in the last several months that try to make out that they are much higher...7-8-9 and even 10 like yesterday, does not cut it with me. Been there, seen it, GOT STUCK!
It was better that I backed out of the yahoo mess. People just did not understand what I was trying to do. News releases were my forte. I could read between the lines after researching heavenly to get more close to the real meaning, then what the company was trying to convey. Bashing the news release just for the sake of it, was not my goal. Uncovering the degree of importance was. Now I will set back in amusement and watch the cronies come out of the wood work to do their thing. Spread the gospel of hype, so they can make a killing off the unsuspecting sheep as they are being slaughtered without them knowing it. |
