Sorry I could not find the old post the explains how MM's get stuck shorting the stock but here is the basic. The mm gets a call from brokerage A to buy 5000 shares , he mus deliver or lose his most favored mm position so he shorts so as not to lose customers. It's more complicated than this and I will post it if I can find it.
