PARIS, June 5 (Reuters) - Sources at Morgan Stanley and
Salomon Smith Barney confirmed on Friday they had raised targets
for Alcatel's stock.
Salomon Smith Barney has hiked its target price to 1,800
francs from 1,500 and at Morgan Stanley the target was upped to
1,500 francs, up from 1,425, the sources said.
At about 0942 GMT Alcatel was up 1.87 percent at 1,200
francs and very active, topping bourse volume with about 2.4
million shares traded. The market was about one percent ahead.
The stock lost nearly 10 percent on Thursday on its plan to
finance the purchase of Dallas-based DSC Communications (NASDAQ:DIGI)
with a 12 percent capital increase.
