More snips of Turkish news items about political activities. I am interested in this because I want the parliament to work efficiently with a minimum of problems, especially now.

PRESS DIGEST - Turkey - June 5
04:16 a.m. Jun 05, 1998 Eastern

ISTANBUL, June 5 (Reuters) - These are the leading stories in the Turkish press
on Friday. Reuters has not verified these stories and does not vouch for their
accuracy.

SABAH

- Prime Minister Mesut Yilmaz says he will not resign, as he has vowed to do at
the end of the year, until an accord has been reached on the form of an interim
government to take the country to early elections in April 1999.

HURRIYET

- The work of parliament, delayed in recent weeks by political uncertainty, is set to
accelerate after Yilmaz and leftist opposition leader Deniz Baykal agree on holding
polls.

MILLIYET

- Yilmaz is to meet President Suleyman Demirel on Monday to present details of
the plan for an interim government and polls.
