HB **OT** - Who's the competition that's killing MOT in digital cellular/PCS?

In handsets: Ericsson and Nokia in GSM, Qualcomm, Sony and Samsung in CDMAOne, and ? in US-TDMA. Bottom line, Motorola just can't get their act together in the digital world. For instance, they are trying to release a CDMA phone, and so far the ship date has moved back 3 or 4 times, and about 1 year total.

In infrastructure: Lucent, Nortel, and Ericsson. Again, they seem to have trouble getting their act together in digital. One of the major US PCS suppliers is reportedly replacing a lot of Motorola equipment with Lucent because the Motorola equipment is having problems.

Digital communications is just different from analog, and Motorola doesn't seem to have the capability.
