Ethernet is a network.

A Network is not necessarilly ethernet.

Ethernet is not an inherently shared media. Ethernet and Token Ring both had full duplex operation in their original spec.

Your defintion talks about Ethernet. Our point was that there are many other Networks which are not ethernet.

A VW Beetle is a car but all cars are not VW beetles. I'm sure you understand.

techweb does have lots of useful info there.

With switched Ethernet, each sender and receiver pair have the full bandwidth.

This not necessarilly true. You can use switched ethernet and still be running half duplex. An Ethernet switch is nothing more than a multiport transparent bridge. Each port can be used full duplex for a single station or you can plug any # of users running half duplex into it.
