Good question. I think LU is worried about CSCO's move into telecom. CSCO buying AFCI would be interesting. In theory, CSCO could effectively use AFCI's UMC local loop box to bypass LU at the central office and divert traffic straight onto a CSCO-based IP network.

My bet on AFCI has little to do with an acquisition however. Getting DIGI out of the way was very nice.
