Not much help for Q-3>>

Actually, I feel quite good about the quarter if all the PBs ship in quantity by mid-June. Considering that a few of the new puppies have been available since the second week of May, and considering the mailorder catalogs still seem to have 1400s and 3400s in inventory, I wouldn't be surprised if Apple has sold $100 million in PBs through the end of May. If indeed all the major outlets can catch-up their back-orders by the 15th or 20th of June, that should add up to $200 million more. This is the crucial point for Q3--do the PBs ship in quantity by mid-June. If so, no worries.

As for G3 sales, it seems that anecdotal evidence is encouraging. The lack of a price cut this quarter in North America should keep margins good. The fact that Club Mac and other discounters are selling them for a few hundred bucks below list should keep sales humming. Also, I would expect the first G3 price cuts in Japan and Europe this quarter. (Maybe Europe had one late last quarter.) This spurred demand in the US last quarter and should work internationally this quarter.

I don't know if we will blow away the rising estimates, but as long as the PBs ship next week in quantity, no real worries about earnings here. I'm still looking for $1450-$1500 M in revenue.

Marc

PS--Sounds like Rhapsody 1.0 is the spur for a stronger push into server sales after all. See MacOSRumors.
