Symbol tried so hard to get Telxon because they know Telxon has the best products. The next largest handheld company NORAND was purchased last year by Intermec. Everyone else is too small and would only offer niche markets. I wouldn't be surprised to see another attempt perhaps even a hostile takeover. The industrial handheld market is growing and most transportation/logistics/warehousing companies want more sophisticated yet user friendly devices that can link to their internal LANs. Telxon can deal with the wireless integration aspects of designing radio cards into their ruggedized portable pen based computers, something that has evaded Symbol. Also, Symbol could offer a 2D scanner with a large touch screen and various radio cards if they used Telxon's platform. Symbol has had a hard time getting away from DOS as well - something Telxon did years ago.

Anyway - with all the Jazz/Malone hype I've had to read on various other threads - I'm not a big basketball fan as I usually only watch the Chicago championships - keeps me busy most years - all I can say is "Malone? Is there something here I'm missing"??

Cordially,

Shelia
