It seems everyone I know, as they realize they can use Netscape on
AOL and get unlimited access and content and customer service all
for 20 bucks a month, are simultaneously realizing that they should
switch to AOL. I just switched from my ISP, and others I know
are as well. Further, many of the >50 crowd I know would not
even consider anything but AOL, and they are getting onto the
internet more as spouses die and children leave. The baby boomers
are re-discovering the online world, and it is likely they will
head right to AOL. I know this is simple research, but it's the
kind David Lynch used. As more content is moved off AOL and accessed via the Web, I would think expenses will fall for AOL re: retaining content providers, and opportunities for wielding the large subscriber base with a degree of market power will increase. What is the downside now?

High on AOL but still on the sidelines,

Mike
