Another thing to consider about Y2K is that there are different approaches that can be taken. You don't always need specialized experts, e.g., Cobol knowledge. I'm working on Y2K right now for a large semiconductor company and their solution is to revamp and consolidate their marketing, manufacturing, and distribution systems. In other words, throw out the old and replace with newer and better. It's working, too, they'll have enough of the system up and running this summer to begin long-range planning activities. The programmers involved just need knowledge of Oracle DBs and C++.
