c-man...If you can't beat em, join em!
I agree iMac pre- announcement will effect buying decision of those considering purchasing within the next couple of months, but the pre- announcement is meant to target: *Low End Product* which AAPL lacks a presence in, *Wintel Potential Buyers* those considering buying and/or sitting on the fence, *Software Development* games, etc.
The residual downside to discontinued/older AAPL product will be minor, IMHO, with the upside far more rewarding to the remaining VARS.
Your comment "Apple is learning bad habits from Microsoft" is a keen observation and one which I applaud AAPL (given *bad* a positive connotation) and support. As a major shareholder of AAPL, I feel the present strategy Jobs is deploying will grow the company, market share, their products and most of all the stock value. If you can't beat em, join em -- Gates has done a great job. Ask MSFT shareholders or the WS analysts.
Wishing you the best of success in your business...
Regards,
Dennis
