IDTI agreed that they need to ramp up Mhz as fast as possible and that they are a bit behind the curve. This will put them much closer to the front runners. The combination of the 3Dnow and enhanced performance should still combine to make the parts competitive. A big problem with the original C6 was that even at 200 Mhz it under-performed the K6, 6X86 MX, and P II of comparable speed grades - so it was out of the running for all but the upgrade market even for 200 Mhz.

This won't make them the leader in performance but will give the chance to get into the game. IDT will need to keep on a very agressive schedule of speed bumps and new versions to stay in the race once they get gain a spot. As it was, the C6 only got IDTI to the starting gate.
