A couple of hitches on the way to the short. There was an article in Barrons last week that touted the stock and there was a run up. The company announced a split today and some more run up. I am short 1,000 shares at $92. I bought long today at 97.25 and am looking for a run up to around $104. I then plan to short again. The best plans of mice and men! This is a very erratic stock. Most of the insiders were selling at the $70-78 level recently. I don't have a lot to go on but I think earnings might not be so good (April 18). That is way they announced the split, effective April 22. If you look at the chart you will see the stock has a great potential for a 20% downturn. At this point, I would hold my fire until the stock gets up to the $104-5 range. Watch the volume. If the volume starts slowing down, it is time to short. This stock generally follows ASND (Ascend Communications). ASND was up today. Both are ripe for a down turn. The market seems overly excited about remote LAN access. SHVA just replaced their Service VP. I think they are having problems with their service and this might be reflected in the earnings. The street is looking for $1.20 this year. If SHVA cannot break .22/share in the next quarter they will really pitch down. Do your homework on this one. Very risky but....very rewarding if you (we) are right. I've made about $12K on them in the last two weeks but the Barrons article and the split sort of messed up my strategy...for the time being.
