"In my opinion, point #5 strongly suggests that the "report" in question is really a "boilerplate fabrication"; moreover, the author(s) have little or no knowledge of networking. So, what's it worth? As the report curiously came out the same day as the recent MRVC conference call, it would seem to be an attempt at an "insurance policy" on someone's "in the money" options and/or short position."

I totally agree, unsubtantiated rumours about a company 's finance and book keeping is one of the most effective weapon the institutional short sellers have used often to temporary bring down a stock. On the other side, big investors will also do everything they can to temporarily bring down a great stock to a level that they are confortable with before jumping in with both feet. There certainly are all kinds of interesting stuffs going on - like recent rashes of untrue buy-out rumours on several stocks coinciding with option expiration dates.

Anyone can dig up dirt on any company if they look hard enough. The trick is to look at performance and behavior of the management team over the past. If they have been great, there is usually nothing to worry about. MRVC passes with flying colors in that respect.

The only concern I have with MRVC is that its sales of Fast Ethernet switches and MegaSwitch II have not taken off as intended and predicted by the CEO. Meanwhile, folks like 3COM and CISCO were totally surprised by the explosive demand for their stuffs. Something does not add up here. I was hoping that someone would ask that question in the earning release conference call. But it seemed that folks who asked questions were quite happy with last quarter 's result.
