Gene, Not necessarily. The terms were undisclosed. IBM has dropped Cyrix. AMD may have had to offer a very deep discount to entice IBM. Also Compaq has had a rocky relationship with Intel (as documented in several publications), that is why Compaq has used AMD and Cyrix more extensively in their products.

AMD cannot afford to buy their way into the market. They need cash like a fish needs water.
