Multimonitor/Operating System: #reply-3280166
I'm waiting to hear back from Dirk to see what he
prefers and his ideas on over taxing the PCI resources. A recent posts stated that Win '98 will support up to 9 monitors. I don't know if Win NT is limited to two. Also, the software for '98 is configured for multimonitors. Win NT would require more tweaking. Sorry, I don't know what a DOS application is.
Monitors will be 17". Min dp .26; high refresh rate. I use
800x600.
Totally Awesome has instock parts for their ready made systems, but if you want them to assemble one with your choice of parts, they
will order the parts cheaper than you can get them elsewhere
and build you your system. They will not sell individual parts,
however. You have to buy the whole computer from them, excluding
monitor/mouse/keyboard/speakers/software. Very impressive. They
been in business for 7 years at the same location. They don't advertise on the Net cause they have enough business just from

I won't be reusing any RAM. I'll be passing on my old computer
to a nephew. I'll go for the 128 sticks at your suggestion.
Software/Hard Drive: I'm currently using a 1.6 gig. There's been
a few times I wanted to try out some new software, but didn't have
the space. The only software I really use is the operating system,
my Kill Key castleonline.com which takes up minimal space, eudoralight email, and mIRC chat,and a stock charting program. I've been running all this on a P 133 for 1 1/2 years. I need more monitors!
I don't store much chart data. As a daytrader, I really don't care
what the stock did the day or week before. I just use the real time
chart. The stocks I trade a lot I store in my mind
knowing entry and exit points. I would like to start saving a few
one day charts, however. I may try something like ZeusPaul mentioned
about having two hard drives in case of disaster.
For what I'm doing, will a PII 233 be adequate? Or would a
266 or 300 be preferable?
