J Fieb,

No Ancor can't make it if they don't sell switches and lots of them. The same is true for Brocade and as we have been informed lately their IPO may have been moved back waiting for them to announce another OEM.

There is some consensus about the problems that I discussed in a prior post as an elaboration of a post of Robert's :

As far as the actual purchasing decisions, within broad limits - they are clearly idiosyncratic. Everyone who posts on this thread probably has worked for an organization that purchased large amounts equipment that we knew was technically inferior and not interop with other equipment we needed. The purchases may have been made even after we pointed this fact out. In my case, my employer bought equipment that was not only technically inferior - but also more expensive. Clearly "best and least expensive" is not necessarily a typical bias. It may be even more difficult to apply to equipment that you are not quite up to speed on.
