OT portfolio:
Welcome. This should be interesting. Do the rules seem fair to all? I think, for accounting purposes, it would be simplest to assume that on 6-6-98 everyone was given $10000 to invest, and we start by apportioning it the way our current portfolio is. It would be helpful to show the stock price now, and whenever you buy or sell. No new money is added. At the end, we convert everything to cash and pay off all margin. Remind me to subtract the borrowing cost for my margin (6.75%).
I notice neither of you are using options or margin. I will. This will give me greater flexibility, greater return (assuming my stocks go up!), and greater downside risk. At the moment, our horserace depends on how amat and intc do. None of us believe in diversification, cash, or electric utilities. All the stocks are risky high-growth tech bets. Typical SI posters: male, aggressive, gamblers. Tombet, could you state your investing rules and philosophy? I think BK and I have already done that. It would be helpful if we had a referee to check our numbers (I can do calculus but not arithmetic). Anyone know how I can cut/paste/copy these numbers and keep the columns lined up?
