Paul E, re: "But who needs all that speed?" Interesting. You looked at the performance and I looked at the price/performance. Heck, if a consumer could buy a PII/450 for $1000 they'd jump all over it. (And a year or two from now they probably can). The key is that there is a large market segment with a price elasticity point of around $1000. They'll buy the best system they can for that price. Compaq recognized this a year ago. What's amazing is what you can and will be able to get for $1000.
