Mr. Donald Moore reports
Rupert Resources has released diamond counts from drillhole Crown-6 at the Crown diamond mine project in South Africa. These results, which substantiate previously reported results from earlier drillholes are detailed below.
In the three holes processed to date a total of 1.213 tonnes of kimberlite from 54 samples has yielded 1,165 diamonds. Stones greater than 1 millimetre in one dimension total 58.8 per cent of the total weight of 0.99 carats.
Drillhole Crown-6 was drilled to a total depth of 869.3 metres, from west to east at an inclination of 55 degrees from the horizontal. Drillhole Crown-7 was completed to a final depth of 652.9 metres and was drilled at an inclination of 60 degrees, from east to west on the same section as Crown-6. Crown-7 encountered 272.7 metres of kimberlite in the Main pipe in the interval from 317.6 metres to 645.0 metres. This hole encountered hypabyssal kimberlite at 328.8 metres or about 250 metres below surface and importantly, was the first drillhole to encounter the higher grading hypabyssal kimberlite above the bottom of the old mine workings. This intersection firmly establishes that the high grade hypabyssal boulders left behind in the historical dumps represent development muck from the lower levels of the previous operation.
Drillhole Crown-8 was collared about 50 metres south of Crown-7 and is drilling at a present depth of 262 metres in Ventersdorp basalts. The hole is expected to reach the Main pipe at about 330 to 350 metres downhole.
The major types of kimberlite encountered in Crown-6 are as follows:
K2 Pure hypabyssal kimberlite with 0 to 15 per cent CRX but usually less than 10 per cent CRX.
K4 Fairly pure hypabyssal kimberlite breccia with up to 40 per cent CRX but usually 20 per cent CRX.
K6 Tuffisitic kimberlite breccia (TKB) with 40 to 75 per cent CRX but usually 50 per cent CRX.

Drilling to date indicates that from -250 to -600 metres the kimberlite is partly K6 and as hole Crown-7 indicates, partly higher grade K2/K4. The K6 kimberlite is similar to the 4.5 million tonnes previously mined from the upper portion of the Main pipe which had an in-situ grade of about 30 carats per hundred tonnes (cpht). The dominantly hypabyssal kimberlite below 600 metres has fewer country rock xenoliths and much higher diamond counts, and it is therefore expected to have an in-situ grade considerably higher than 30 cpht.

* Macros are those diamonds for which one dimension exceeds 0.5 millimetre.
Core samples are shipped to Lakefield Research under bonded security procedures. Extensive internal quality control is exercised by Lakefield.
The balance of the drillcore is retained on site for future reference, check analyses, petrographic examinations and mineral chemistry studies as necessary.
