I would not have the faintest idea what causes your monitor problems. I would think you would see other problems if it were something external, like power problems. For example, I would expect problems with my television.

How about dragging it over to a friend's house and trying it out on another machine to see if you can duplicate the problem? If so then you know that at least it's the monitor, if not then the computer or power.

I have an UPS and a surge protector on the feed into the house. But I don't think either would help you....the reason being is that you don't have computer problems, just monitor problems. If the power was whacked, why wouldn't it affect your computer as well as your monitor?
