Eddie,

Short visit to my local CompUSA today. Prime interest is replacement of my wife's stolen laptop. Only three companies had two models each of lap tops on display. Six models in total. Stock on desk tops was sadly lacking. They usually have a very large supply of Compaqs. I asked why the lack of inventory. The answer was, "Nobody is shipping product until they put Win98 on the machines."

The store is really spruced up, and business appeared slow. CDR disks and labels with CDR programs were well displayed right in front of the parts desk. Wonder if CDR drives are going to be included on some of the new PCs. It is a greatly improved technology that really hasn't taken off yet. The soft ware area was neat as a pin. Hmm, looks like they are preparing for a rush of interest in the new products coming out. Hope they are not disappointed.

You probably won't find your new machine until Win98 hits the street.
