Scumbria - Re: "It is just a matter of time until slot 1/2 is relegated to multi-processor applications only."

Wake up!

Look around you!

TAIPEI, Taiwan -- National Semiconductor will develop processors that will fit into the same Slot 1 architecture that houses Intel's Pentium II class chips, the company's top executive said here
Wednesday at the Computex '98 trade show.

The chip maker, which last year entered the x86 processor business by acquiring Cyrix, has a broad licensing agreement with Intel that allows the company to break the chip giant's hold on the Slot 1
interface, said Brian Halla, National Semiconductor's chairman of the board, president, and chief executive officer.

"One thing I have learned here [in Taiwan] is that Slot 1 is where the industry is going, so that's where we will go too," Halla said.

The last paragraph should be memorized, Scumbria, so you don't forget it!
