Oak's head of optical storage unit resigns

SUNNYVALE, Calif.--Oak Technology Inc. today said that Aydin Koc,
president of its Optical Storage Business Unit, had resigned. Richard Black,
president of Oak Technology, will assume responsibility for the division. No
further explanation was given.

Oak, a provider of high-performance multimedia semiconductors, had
recently divested itself of several businesses to concentrate on core
markets--including optical storage--where it felt it had the best potential (see
Jan. 22 story). The optical storage business continued to account for the
largest portion of Oak's sales in the recent quarter, representing 80% of the
company's revenues.
