Dear Cosmo:

The symbol is SP, then followed by either the month symbol the the year's last digit, or the year then the month. It depends on the quote delivery system you are using.

For example S & P 500 June 98 contract will be either SPM8, or SP8M
where H for March, M for June, U for Sept., and Z for Dec.
