Enlighten me,
CALABASAS, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--March 10, 1998--THQ Inc. (Nasdaq/NMS:THQI) Tuesday announced that THQ and WCW do not intend to renew the license agreement with respect to WCW World Championship Wrestling.
As previously announced, the existing license expires Dec. 29, 1998, and allows THQ to continue to sell products on hand and in process at that date through June 29, 1999.
Here are the games they are losing:
-- "WCW vs. NWO: World Tour" (for Nintendo 64) was voted "Fighting Game of the Year" by the Academy of Interactive Arts and Sciences at the First Interactive Achievement Awards. "WCW Nitro" (for PlayStation) was also a finalist in this category.
-- "WCW vs. NWO: World Tour" (for Nintendo 64) was selected "Best Fighting Game" by GamePro magazine readers and Web site visitors in The 7th Annual GamePro Reader's Choice Awards.
-- "WCW Nitro" was voted "Best Fighting Console Game" of the year by visitors to Sony Computer Entertainment's Web site.
-- "WCW Nitro" was presented "The Platinum Award" by Sony Computer Entertainment to commemorate the manufacture of more than 500,000 copies of the game for the PlayStation game console for the fiscal year ending March 31, 1998.
-- "WCW vs the World" was awarded "The Gold Award" by Sony Computer Entertainment to commemorate the manufacture of more than 250,000 copies of the game for the PlayStation game console for the fiscal year ending March 31, 1998.
How are they going to replace these titles?
