Very astute, Father Terrence. Victor Hugo is one of John Galts own
favorite romantic writers. His writings are simple yet he wrote with
such clarity.

Although you may perceive the hunchback as a hero in the sense he
saved the young woman from the tyranny of mideavil mythics, John Galt
does not see the hunchback as a hero. The hunchback was a narrowly minded obsessive creature whose only acts of heroism were by happenstance to save the girl. John Galt shows no adoration for such creatures. Now if the hunchback at an earlier time climbed down from the belltower and got a facial, then perhaps, he might be deemed a hero.
