**** NEWS**** Taiga underway
NOTE - I just copied the GNN NR

Mr. Donald McInnes reports
The follow-up drill program on the Taiga nickel property in Yukon has commenced. Drilling will be conducted on the MM grid in the immediate vicinity of the 1997 discovery area and will consist of 50 metre step-out holes to the east, west and south of discovery holes REN97-07 and REN97-08.

The program in this area, will initially consist of six to eight holes, each 75 to 100 metres in length, designed to test the lateral and down dip continuity of the nickel and zinc mineralization, and the down dip extent of the barite horizon. Previous drilling has indicated that nickel zinc mineralization is intimately associated with barite in the MM grid area. During the past week crews have completed 20 line kilometres of grid work and soil sampling to extend the MM grid 2km to the west. Soil samples were taken every 50 metres and 327 samples have been shipped to Chemex in Vancouver.

The grid has been extended to follow the westward continuation of the nickel geochemical anomaly on the MM grid. THe new grid covers two barite deposits, the Cliff and the Ridge, drilled off by Umex in the early 1980s. Geological mapping at the Ridge barite trenches has identified similar stratigraphy to that encountered in drill hole REN97-08. Initial analytical results from this program can be expected in early Jul
